Aphrodite & Ares Sterling Silver Chain Ring

£37

Named after the Goddess of Love and the God of War’s love affair. This piece takes it’s name from the story of Aphrodite’s husband, Hephaestus who was the God of blacksmithing, metalwork and volcanoes amongst other things, putting both of them in an uncompromising position… The God Helios who pulled the sun across the sky each morning could see everything. So, when he saw Aphrodite and Ares together in her martial bed, he told Hephaestus.

In order to catch the two of them, he constructed a trap so the next time they met – it chained them both up! Hephaestus then told all of the other Olympian Gods, of which all of the male Gods quickly ran to see and mock the pair. Lots of interesting conversations can be had about Hephaestus’s reasons for doing this – Aphrodite wasn’t particularly happy about being married to him but this is mythology and was a very different time… Ares and Aphrodite ended up having lots of children together, two of the most famous being Eros and Harmonia.
