Theseus Rectangle Sterling Silver Signet Ring

£209

This piece takes it name from the mythological Greek hero, Theseus. Said to be the Prince of Athens, although there was question of his parentage, he could have also been the son of the God of the Sea (and horses) Poseidon. He was the hero to slay the Minotaur, as part of this myth, he was told to prove to King Minos that he was the son of Poseidon by throwing his ring into the sea for Theseus to retrieve. Theseus prayed to Poseidon and dove into the water where he was helped to retrieve the ring by the nymph, Thetis who gave him the ring.

The signet ring is a classic piece of jewellery, dating back to 3500BC. Traditionally worn on the pinky finger, it would feature the wearer’s family crest which was used to stamp wax seals for letters or sign documents. It has evolved over the centuries and is now a timeless fashion piece. This design features a plain oval and is a nice chunky addition to any jewellery wearer’s collection.

This pairs amazingly with the Zeus Thunderbolt Signet Ring for a chunky, powerful hand!
